Earthy, Epic & Emotional – Benjamin & Laura’s Wedding Film On Brentor In Dartmoor

When Laura and Ben got in touch with us and told us they were getting married on Dartmoor we got a little excited! Then when we found they were getting married in a tiny little Church at the top of Brent Tor we got even more excited!

The day’s preparations started at Wonwood Barton, a lovely little rustic-style venue with a round reception room in the middle, accurately named ‘The Roundhouse’ and accommodation surrounding the area. Laura told us when we first spoke to her that she doesn’t always agree that the Wedding Day is so commonly focused around the bride and wanted it to be a more evenly important day for the two of them. The bridal preparations were super laid-back and Laura even described herself as feeling like she was just getting ready for a day out with her friends, it was lovely to see her so relaxed.

Sam headed over to see Ben and the groomsmen getting ready at a nearby hotel. They then headed over to the Church to welcome the guests.

After filming the father/daughter first look we also made our way to the Church. On arrival we could see the Church in the distance and the hill that awaited us! We trekked up to the top and were met with the cutest little stone built Church on the top of the windy tor. The guests were all squeezed into the church and a rather large choir were also signing at the back, it had such a great atmosphere!

After the service Laura and Ben were as keen as us to get some great footage whilst on the tor, we were picturing a kind of elopement-style start to their Wedding video and with those surroundings and a relaxed couple it was easy to create our vision.

It was our first time at Wonwood Barton and it was a real treat. I walked around and sussed out all the lovely spots for footage, which wasn’t hard as the whole place looked great! The garden games out on the lawn showed the guests competitive sides, especially the sack races which attracted the adults more than the kids.

In the evening the outdoor area was lit up with festoon lighting making the perfect backdrop for the couples first dance, its not often you get to film an outdoor first dance! Everything about the day was great, the couple were a dream to work for and the reception at Wonwood Barton was full of eye-candy.

It was a pleasure working alongside Zac Gibson (amazing photographer and provided the header image above) and thank-you to everyone at the church and venue for looking after us. We had the best day filming this Wedding and we hope you love your film.
